Spiritual Psychology

What is it?

The root meaning of spiritual is “breath.” The root meaning of psychology is “study of the spirit or soul.” Simple. Essential.

But words are tricky and the word “spiritual” is thrown around so much today that it has become practically meaningless. So, really, what does it mean?

Getting spiritual is not some ethereal, woo-woo idea that is separate from your everyday lived, breathed, embodied and REAL life. When I refer to spiritual, I mean the essential goodness of life, and of yourself, that is as close to you and as life-enhancing as your own breath. I mean that sense of wholeness and truth that pervades all life experiences regardless of what those experiences hold. I mean the ever-deepening process of waking up to who we are in the deepest sense.

In my work with clients and in my own life, I encourage enhanced awareness to deepen this way of being. That means we wake up, pay attention and allow our awareness to lead us into this experience. As awareness deepens, so does our ability to feel supported by life and to allow choices to flow through us that support our best life possible.
